Good Gifts Make a Great Christmas

Saturday, February 27th, 2010
Amrith K. A asked:

December is here, so is an unique festive aura. Carols and Christmas decorations take center stage, as Christmas is round the corner. There are several innovative ways to make the celebrations unique and one of them is to opt for innovative Christmas gift ideas.

Splurging on Christmas gifts is passe. How about doing something different this Christmas? With recession being the latest buzzword, isn’t it appropriate to save as much as possible and in as many instances as necessary? Christmas shopping is an expensive affair but with proper planning one is bound to find ways to make the Christmas worthwhile.

There are several online stores that cater to discerning shoppers that believe in cost effective shopping. Here are a few tips to zero in, on the most ideal gifts, at reasonable prices.

Shop early:

The benefits of starting early are that a shopper gets more time to choose ideal gifts. Good discounts may be availed too. A Christmas gift, which the entire family could use, is ideal to cut costs. Plan in advance for the most thoughtful gifts and send it to loved ones. Shopping early ensures you don’t get into last minute panic-buying which often results in more expenditure.

Re gifting:

If you thought giving away gifts once presented to you was a tacky idea, think twice. It could help cut costs and do less harm, if the recipient is going to appreciate the gift. Think of people that may need the gift and present it to them.

Save on gift wrap:

Your presents could be put in envelopes or plain paper covers. The wrap may be embellished with a bow and some old yet well maintained ribbons. Old gift wraps may be cut in attractive designs and stuck on fresh paper to spice up the gift wrap.

Bulk Shopping:

Shopping in bulk is the surest way to buy the most innovative gifts in bulk quantities. The gifts may be segregated and presented individually to loved ones. Buy one gift that two people could use and present them to couples. If there are two children in the family, then buy one gift which the two of them can use. This way, you save on gifting individual members of the family.

Online greeting cards and personalized gifts:

Opting to make greeting cards online is the surest way to spend less. Online photo printing companies, offer customization facilities, which are amongst the innovative gifting options. They are highly affordable too. Avail the option of customization and use one liners, poems, photographs etc to make the gift truly special.

It is important to remember that Christmas is for revelers that believe in the joy of giving. Gifts need not be expensive to be good. It’s the thought that counts; therefore solicitous shopping is the true essence of this joyful festival. Enjoy Christmas with great gift ideas that help cut costs, convey the message of love and add panache to the festivities.

Wednesday, February 24th, 2010
Natalie Aranda asked:

You can feel it in the air, Christmas season is coming our way so before it can find you doing anything else, get ready to jot down your Christmas gifts list, because it is never too late or to early to write down gifts that you know will be loved this holiday season.

Perhaps weird, or just odd, but every year we receive the same advice for plan ahead for our shopping time. In fact, more than often, we have in mind a series of Christmas gift ideas, but somehow we are caught before we could to anything to implement at least one.

Lack of time seems to be the “illness” of present times, but if everything turns around a boyfriend Christmas gift ideas, things change drastically. Your boyfriend is your “other half” so it will never hurt if you dedicate some of your spare time to finding meaningful Christmas gifts for him.

When it comes to Christmas gift ideas for boyfriends, only you can determine what to give. There are present that have no age or time, such as collectible action figures, but there are others more suitable for the businessman, like an executive handheld set that would be unsuitable if your boyfriend is a teenager, just like you.

Alternatively, who knows, there are young men who have well defined professional careers since their early high school days and may feel amazingly surprised with such a classy gift. On the other hand, a businessman will never be too old to receive caramels or toys decorated following the instructions of patterns with Christmas gift ideas or crafts for this very special season of the year.

If this year is the right one for getting ready your Christmas gifts list, add a special section devoted to boyfriend Christmas gift ideas, and add as many items as you think he will enjoy, whether alone or by your side sharing a kiss under your mistletoe central decor.

Christmas gift ideas for boyfriends may include some of these presents: a bottle of wine, a flashlight, or Swiss knife. If he enjoys games, try arcade games, or a wrist exerciser for guys who like to stay in shape. Other ideas include remote control vehicles, a digital camera, spy toys, a pocket calculator, a radio with clock, multi flavored chocolates, sport gear, and many others that your imagination dictates.

When is not time but lack of inspiration, ask your boyfriend about the things he likes. In fact, where have you been? This is something that you should know even before he actually turned into your boyfriend.

However never is too late to investigate, or nurture your inspiration with other sources. There are excellent Christmas gift ideas and Christmas gift ideas for boyfriends can be found by just surfing the Internet or taking a walk browsing the Christmas gifts shops near to your home, so good luck and happy shopping.

Three Tips to Finding Good Christmas Gifts

Monday, February 22nd, 2010
Frank Bugeja asked:

“Finding good Christmas gifts for your family and friends can decidedly be a challenge! Let’s take a peek at 3 great tips to finding those Christmas presents for those on your to buy for list this Christmas.

Tip 1 – Know Your Gift Receiver

Now, this may sound a little silly, but when you really are browsing for a good Christmas gift for someone, you of a sudden may find that you really don’t know their wants or wishes. It’s not uncommon to purchase a present for someone based upon what we consider that they would want and not what they genuinely do want. To ensure we are doing this right, take a minute to discover their true wishes. This may be easy. With a bit of thought you may remember that they are genuinely interested in rock music. You may even remember about the band they were wanting to get an CD for. Or consider good Christmas gifts to be a gift certificate from their favorite shop.

Tip 2 – What the Most Recent Thing

When doing this, don’t consider spending too much, but look for what is the most recent thing in this person’s field of interest. Finding out can be very easy to do. Sit the individual down and chat to them about their interest. I’m sure you’ll discover the latest thing before long! You will need to listen very carefully and don’t discount anything.

Tip 3 – Take Them To The Shopping Center

Sometimes you get really stuck. This can be a struggle with my spouse. I can get lucky once in a while when she hints for something, but sometimes I’m really stuck with her and I just don’t wish to pick up gift certificates. I’ll relinquish and just take her to the shopping centers! It may sound cheesy, but trust me, letting them choose their good Christmas gifts and then wrapping it up until Christmas can be exciting too!

And there’s your 3 tips to determining good Christmas gifts for a someone on your Christmas shopping list!”

Christmas Gifts For Someone Who Has Everything

Friday, February 19th, 2010
Matt Hellstrom asked:

Ever tried shopping for that person on your list who doesn’t seem to need or want anything? It’s a lesson in frustration for sure. But what if you were to think of what they most would love to give and give them that? Maybe something that is not for them but that they can give. This good Christmas gift idea is for just that person. Someone who has a heart for the poor and hungry in our world.

It happens every year, finding that gift for the person(s) on your list who have all they want. Here is a good Christmas gift idea – let them be the gift giver (via you) by helping someone else.

The United Nations World Food Programme has come up with a way to help hungry kids by raising money for food to feed them. The gift is The FEED bag. We all know the devastation that hunger is taking on worldwide health, more than either other disease. Sadly, every 5 seconds, hunger ends another life of a child.

Each FEED bag sold will provide a school year of meals for one child in need and give them the hope of an education and a regular meal.

Using the gift FEED bag in work, school, play, or while they shop, your special person will feel the satisfaction of knowing they are helping a child. The tote will also be a way into sharing this opportunity with others.

What a great gift for someone who has everything – the gift of life!

Christmas Gift Ideas For Students in Sunday School

Thursday, February 18th, 2010
Denise Oliveri asked:

How can you choose the appropriate Christmas gift for the Sunday school children? With so much emphasis on the commercial aspect of Christmas, too often the “Christ” is removed from the holiday season. The one place you do not want this to happen is when you are choosing those Sunday school gifts. Here are a few Christmas gift ideas.

Bibles for Christmas

Of course these can make an excellent Christmas Sunday school gift. There are Bibles that are geared for younger children that contain colorful pictures and larger, simpler text for young readers. There are also Bibles that have New English translations for teen and young adults. These “plain reading” translations allow teens to read the Biblical passages with a modern linguistic interpretation.

Stuffed Animals

Find animals that appear in Bible that have special meaning such as the fish, dove and the lamb. These make excellent gifts or younger children and pre-teen girls will love them.

Crosses for Christmas

Crosses come in all sizes and materials and can be as simple as a small plain wooden cross to an elegant silver cross on a chain. These gifts will many times remain with the child for their entire life.

Christian Video and Audio Gifts

Christian videotapes, DVDs, and CDs like Veggie Tales or Christian Christmas Carols are great gifts to give. You can buy Christmas-related gifts in this category or branch out to ones that are great for all year-round.

Christmas Tree Ornaments

Take a class picture with your digital camera (do this very soon!). Print the picture on to sticker paper. Cut out the pictures and stick them to bare Christmas ornaments. If you want to put the pictures on a round ornament, make sure the pictures print in an oval shape. If you want to put the pictures on a square or rectangular ornament, adjust the size and shape of the picture accordingly before printing. You can then decorate the ornaments with glitter for an added touch.

Christmas Goodie Bags

Fill cellophane Christmas goodie bags with novelty toys that you can find at your local Christian bookstore or outlet. Do not forget to include a candy cane for each child, along with the story of the candy cane to go along with it. Preschoolers will have fun searching through the goodie bags to find what small treasures you have placed inside.

It does not take much to make a preschool child happy. They are very simple in their thinking. It is the thought that you gave them something for Christmas that will fill their hearts with joy. Start planning the gifts for your Sunday school class now, so you are prepared.

Good Gifts For an Office Staff

Monday, February 15th, 2010
Bruce Victor asked:

If you have a big staff working for you then it is always a tough choice to select the most appropriate gift for the staff and that too at a budget. The challenge is compounded by the fact that it is never easier especially at the Christmas time to get a good gift which is unique and very sensible.

The basic thing to keep in mind is to start planning for the office gift early. In fact it is advisable that you start thinking about a year in advance and in fact buy stuff very early as then you can easily get good discounts. A lot of gifts are available at throwaway prices after the Christmas and that will help to make sure that your budget for the gifts does not go haywire. The challenge will be to estimate the number of gifts that you will buy for the next year Christmas.

Make sure that you avoid those regular office gifts like pen stand or the diaries or a box of chocolates. Those are no longer considered unique and in fact as frowned upon by the office staff.

Always go for the bulk stuff at affordable prices. Check your local farmers market for something which is unique and very stylish. You can get some nice office gifts for less there.

Now if you have very big teams say above 100 or so then it would not be wise to go for the handmade gifts. Then go for some small token gifts which are not too personal like a wall mounted bottle opener or even special beer Koozies. Hopefully ordering these in bulk can help you get some really good bargains.

Office gifts generally need no packaging as then you would be unnecessarily increasing the cost of the gift. Again no personal gifts for office staff as it is against the office etiquette.

Embroidered Gift Ideas for Christmas

Friday, February 12th, 2010
Low Jeremy asked:

One of the ways to make your Christmas gifts more personalized is to put some fancy embroidery on it. There are actually a lot of gifts, which you can put embroideries on, caps, handkerchiefs, towels, even stuff toys like teddy bears. It can either be a full-scale embroidered design or just a couple of letters or words. It will really depend on what you can do and of course the time available to do it.

Here are some embroidered Christmas gift ideas that you can put to good use this holiday season.

1. Bags glamour

Nothing can make a simple bag stand out than intricate embroideries that add color and texture. Buy a simple cloth bag in shops and craft stores and design it yourself. This will make your gift look more expensive than it really is.

You can embroider the pockets or the edges. You can also create patterns at the center to make a really unique piece that other people will surely envy. You can even use gold and silver threads to make the piece more glamorous. Add beads if you can on the embroidery to add a three-dimensional quality to it.

2. Bath Essentials

Bathroom staples like towels and bathrobes are another great items that you can embroider. Bath essentials are especially great if you are giving it to a couple like your mom and dad or your sister and her husband. You can create for them a matching set, emblazoned with the same design but in different colors. You can also embroider their names or their initials on the towels or robes. If you want to be whimsy about it, you can even put their endearments to each other on the material.

3. Head Essentials

This is another great piece of material that you can easily put embroider to. Of course, check first the materials, as there are some caps that have a cardboard embedded inside for support. This will be harder to embroider. Straw hats can also be embroidered. Just use straw threads instead of ordinary threads. Straw threads can be bought in craft stores in the country.

4. Sneakers

What better way to make sneakers really unique than to put some great embroidery on them. Often, sneakers will be made of lightweight materials that can be easily embroidered. Just use a sharper and stronger needle in stitching. For a more personalized touch, you can even put your initials at the back of the sneakers.

A Good Christmas Gift For a Girlfriend

Friday, February 12th, 2010
Andrea W. Jackson asked:

When asking yourself what is a good Christmas gift for a girlfriend, you have to break down the question.

That’s actually surprisingly easy when you take a little time to think about the lady who will be receiving your gift.

Exactly what is your relationship to your girlfriend – casual, close or intimate?

You don’t want to make the mistake of giving something that will be taken as a signal of intimacy to someone you intend to remain casual with. The reverse is also true.

What is your girlfriend interested in?

Hone in on what she would like, not what you want her to like, what you personally like or worst of all, what your Mother likes.

The least appreciated gift my now ex-husband ever gave me for Christmas was an electric can opener, just like his Mother had just bought for herself. There’s a reason we are no longer together!

What message do you want to give?

By this I’m talking subliminal message. The item you buy as a Christmas gift for a girlfriend will come back to bite you if you buy something that looks cheap, something that screams frighteningly expensive or something that says “I grabbed this because I really couldn’t be bothered”

Is there a Christmas gift that rings all the bells?

Well you may beg to differ but in my mind the best Christmas gift for a girlfriend, wife, partner, daughter or any other lady you might be buying for is a gift basket for women.

And this is why.

Themed gift baskets come in lots of shapes and sizes, but always they look attractive. First impressions are important for any gift for a woman.

Items in a gift basket are an abundance of cute little packages, each one to be examined and unwrapped and exclaimed over separately, prolonging the joy of gift receiving.

Many of the items in gift hampers are consumables and after these gift items are used up, your girlfriend is happy to receive another basket on a different occasion.

One of This Year’s Hot Christmas Gifts – Elmo Live!

Saturday, February 6th, 2010
Matt Hellstrom asked:

Once again Elmo takes center stage at Christmas. Every year there’s that one gift that everyone wants and is hard to find. A few years back it was “Tickle Me Elmo”. Remember that one? Everyone just had to have it, though I have to admit I didn’t see the attraction. Then, for the last couple of years, and it looks like again this year, it’s the Wii. I remember back about 10 or 15 years ago it was Cabbage Patch kids. Then Beanie Babies. It’s always something!

This year it looks like it’s going to be Elmo Live! At least according to the early reports for Amazon and other experts. Elmo is talking, singing, joking in a brand new interactive way. Sesame Street has always been known for encouraging creative and entertaining play, and this toy is no different. He’s designed for kids over 18 months of age, and despite one or two complaints, it looks like he’s going to be a great gift.

He’s kind of similar to Tickle Me Elmo in that he’s an animated stuffed toy that talks. However, he’s much more advanced in that his facial features and movements are quite lifelike. He’s very cute and kids are enthralled with him. He does all kinds of things like blows kisses, asks for hugs, and says he loves you. He tells jokes, acts ticklish, and more.

Plus, he’s very interactive. For instance, he’ll ask for a hug then if he gets one he’ll say “Thank you”. Or he’ll say he’s ticklish and then if your child tickles him, he’ll respond like he’s being tickled. Kids feel like he’s alive and their friend.

He comes with a little stool, and when he’s sitting on it he actually crosses his legs. His mannerisms are extremely lifelike, and for the first time it really looks like he’s talking when he moves his mouth.

15 out 18 reviews on Amazon raved about the sweet simplicity of making Elmo Live! play. They rated his animated story telling top of the list. And added his silly sounds were not to be overlooked either.

Powering down is even fun. When Elmo hasn’t been played with for a while, or if he’s laid on his back he yawns and says he is tired. This is good because it helps him not go through batteries so fast.

A couple of tips about playing with Elmo. His adorable movements do sometimes make a slight mechanical sound, which can make what he says hard to understand at times. Also, if he’s not on a hard surface he can fall down, but even then he asks for help in getting up and remembers his manners by saying thank you.

He’s pretty cute, and your kids will most likely overlook these small details because he’s their “best friend”.

It comes with Elmo Live! doll, with 6 AA batteries included.

If you’ve got to have the hottest Christmas gifts every year, you’re going to want to check out Elmo Live! pretty quick!
